Halloween (or the lack thereof) is one of my parenting regrets. Not because we didn’t participate for ourselves but because I didn’t use it as an opportunity. I tried to pretend it didn’t exist, which was stupid. Now that it’s too late for my kids to gather candy from all our neighbors (sorry guys), I have a different approach to this day that has somehow grown so huge in our culture. I like to join with neighbors in our cul de sac to greet kids and pass out treats. It’s a way to build connections and open doors to relationships.
This year, along with glow sticks and packets of hot chocolate (there’s a funny story behind this; ask me), I’m going to pass out some gospel booklets from Matthias Media, “Who will be King?”
If you want some of these to share with kids in your neighborhood, they will be available on the top shelf at the Kidstuff table.
