Reading is one of those things that we all feel like we ought to do but often put off. The urgent crowds out our time to read. TheWomen’s Book Club provides some motivation to read good books (well, I think they are good anyway!) and then reinforce what you have read by discussing it among friends. This summer is a great time to get started with two great reads – Live Your Truth by Alisa Childers and Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert by Rosaria Butterfield. Live Your Truth takes common ways of thinking (live your own truth, put yourself first, God just wants you to be happy….) and exposes them as “deceptions that make us anxious, exhausted, and self-obsessed”. We will meet to discuss this book on June 2 at 7:00 pm at Colleen Grogan’s home. Even if you don’t finish the book, come anyway! I find that discussing the book fixes it in my memory more than just reading on my own.
Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert is the story of how “Rosaria encountered something that turned her world upside down–the idea that Christianity, a religion she had regarded as problematic and sometimes downright damaging, might be right about who God was.” We will be meeting to discuss this book on July 7, also at 7:00 pm at Colleen’s home.
Come and read with us this summer!
